“We acknowledge the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters, and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures; and to their Elders past, present and emerging.”
Healesville / Phillip Island Nature Link
We conserve land through outreach, restoration, and research.
The goal of the Healesville to Phillip Island Nature Link is to create a bio-link of national significance connecting three of Victoria's iconic ecotourism attractions (Healesville Sanctuary, Puffing Billy and Phillip Island Nature Parks) via natural corridors on public and private land. The HPNL is designed to mitigate threats to our natural and cultural assets including some of our most loved and iconic plants, animals and places:
The Great Swamp Regenerative Park and Tooradin Community-Environment Centre Study
The rapid pace of urban expansion, sea level rise and other climate change impacts pose a major threat to the fragile landscapes of Western Port and the coastal reserves of Tooradin.
Working in conjunction with HPNL, Monash Urban Lab has undertaken a multi-disciplinary study that offers a provocation to create a new regenerative and recreational park – The Great Swamp Regenerative Park – that would protect and gradually transform this highly modified wetland complex into the future.
The creation of a state-of-the-art community-environment-research centre at Tooradin is a key part of this visionary plan that considers the changing land use for this area into the next 200 years.
